The cdc support group was originally formed in the mid 1980's by Ann Wilson after contacting InTouch to find out if there was a support group for Cri Du Chat Syndrome.

In 1991 the First Annual get together was held at the Cadbury Club near Bristol.  Eternal gratitude will always be felt for the organiser of that first conference Gill Watts.

Very soon after the first get together a Steering Group Committee was formed by willing parents.  Meetings were held every 3 - 4 months and were scattered around the UK.

Cri Du Chat Syndrome Support Group became a charity in 1993.

Conferences have been held every year since the first one at Bristol.  The conferences last over a weekend and one of the main aims of these get togethers is to meet other families.  Friendships are formed and problems talked through.

The group produces 2 newsletters each year and holds the annual conference.  It provides support, advice and a friendly face to parents of both newly diagnosed children and older children.

We welcome contact from health care professional.

The Group actively promotes research into the syndrome in the hope that the understanding it brings, will help us and future families to come to deal with the daily complexities of the syndrome.

Understanding just why your child behaves in a particular way helps to alleviate the stress caused and allows you to try and modify the behaviour.

At present we are lucky enough to have some research funded by the National Lottery.
